Isaiah 54 (vv. 1-3)

A woman once marked by barrenness and desolation stands outside a large desert tent and bursts into joyful song. Around her, family members and workers begin expanding the tent, stretching curtains wide, lengthening cords, and driving stakes deep into the earth. The image captures a dramatic reversal: emptiness giving way to abundance, shame replaced by expectancy, and a solitary figure becoming the mother of a vast future people who will spread in every direction.

한때 잉태하지 못함과 황폐함으로 특징지어졌던 한 여인이 광야의 큰 장막 밖에 서서 기쁨의 노래를 터뜨린다. 그녀의 주변에서는 가족들과 일꾼들이 장막을 넓히기 시작하며, 휘장을 넓게 펴고 줄을 길게 늘이며 말뚝을 땅 깊이 박고 있다. 이 장면은 극적인 반전을 담고 있다. 공허함이 풍성함으로 바뀌고, 수치가 기대감으로 대체되며, 외로운 한 인물이 사방으로 퍼져 나갈 큰 미래의 백성의 어머니가 되어 가는 모습이다.
