Isaiah 50 (vv. 10-11)

The final contrast of the chapter is stark. On one side stands the person who walks in darkness with no light, yet trusts in the name of the Lord. On the other side are those who kindle their own fires and carry flaming torches, relying on self-made illumination. Their chosen light leads not to safety but to torment. This scene should visually contrast humble trust in divine darkness with the false confidence of human-made fire.

이 장의 마지막 대조는 매우 선명하다. 한편에는 빛이 전혀 없는 어둠 속을 걸으면서도 여호와의 이름을 신뢰하는 사람이 있다. 다른 한편에는 스스로 불을 피우고 횃불을 들며 자신이 만든 빛에 의지하는 자들이 있다. 그러나 그들이 택한 빛은 안전이 아니라 고통으로 이끈다. 이 장면은 하나님의 보이지 않는 인도하심을 신뢰하는 겸손한 믿음과, 인간이 만들어낸 거짓 확신의 불빛을 시각적으로 대비해야 한다.
