Isaiah 49 (vv. 14-18)

Zion mourns that the LORD has forsaken and forgotten her, but the divine response is tender and unforgettable. Using the image of a mother and infant, the LORD declares that even if a mother could forget her nursing child, he will not forget Zion. Her name and city are engraved on his palms, her ruined walls remain before him, and her scattered children begin to return. The scene combines grief, maternal compassion, covenant memory, and the first signs of restoration.

시온은 여호와께서 자신을 버리시고 잊으셨다고 탄식하지만, 하나님의 응답은 부드럽고도 잊을 수 없는 사랑으로 가득하다. 여호와께서는 어머니와 젖먹이 아기의 비유를 사용하시며, 설령 어머니가 자기 아이를 잊는다 해도 자신은 결코 시온을 잊지 않겠다고 선언하신다. 시온의 이름과 성읍은 그의 손바닥에 새겨져 있고, 무너진 성벽은 항상 그의 앞에 있으며, 흩어진 자녀들은 다시 돌아오기 시작한다. 이 장면은 슬픔, 어머니 같은 긍휼, 언약의 기억, 그리고 회복의 첫 징조를 함께 보여준다.
