After kings and princes vanish, the abandoned strongholds of Edom are overtaken by wilderness. Owls, ravens, jackals, hyenas, wild goats, and nesting birds inhabit the shattered citadels, showing that God has measured the land for chaos and assigned it permanently to creatures of the desert.
