Isaiah 3 (vv. 1-3)

The LORD is about to strip Jerusalem and Judah of every form of support: food, water, military strength, wise leadership, justice, craftsmanship, and social order. The scene should show a once-functioning city now on the edge of collapse, as its essential pillars are being withdrawn. Warriors, judges, elders, craftsmen, and counselors stand as if fading from the life of the city, while empty jars, dry storehouses, and anxious citizens reveal the coming crisis.

여호와께서 예루살렘과 유다에서 모든 버팀목을 거두어 가시려는 장면이다. 음식과 물, 군사력, 지혜로운 지도력, 정의, 기술, 사회 질서까지 모두 사라져 간다. 한때 질서 있게 운영되던 성읍이 이제 붕괴 직전에 놓여 있으며, 그 기둥들이 하나씩 제거되는 모습이 드러나야 한다. 용사들, 재판관들, 장로들, 장인들, 모사들이 마치 도시의 생명에서 사라져 가는 듯 서 있고, 빈 항아리와 메마른 창고, 불안해하는 백성들이 다가오는 위기를 보여 준다.
