Isaiah 28 (vv. 14-22)

The rulers in Jerusalem boast that they have secured themselves through lies, as if they had made a covenant with death and hidden from disaster. Against their false refuge, the Sovereign LORD declares that He is laying a tested and precious cornerstone in Zion, a true foundation that will not fail. Hail and flood will sweep away deception, exposing every false shelter, while the sure stone remains the one place of lasting security.

예루살렘의 통치자들은 마치 죽음과 언약을 맺고 재앙을 피할 수 있는 것처럼 거짓 속에서 자신들의 안전을 자랑한다. 그러나 그들의 거짓 피난처에 맞서 주권자이신 주님은 시온에 검증되고 귀한 모퉁잇돌을 놓으신다고 선언하신다. 이는 결코 무너지지 않는 참된 기초이다. 우박과 홍수가 속임수로 만든 은신처를 쓸어버릴 것이며, 오직 그 견고한 돌만이 영원한 안전의 자리가 된다.
