Isaiah 28 (vv. 1-4)

Isaiah opens with a lament over Ephraim, pictured as a beautiful wreath set above a fertile valley, yet ruined by drunken pride. The city appears glorious at first glance, but its beauty is already fading like a flower ready to fall. A powerful storm of judgment approaches, and the proud crown will be cast down and trampled like early ripe fruit quickly snatched and swallowed.

이사야는 비옥한 골짜기 위에 놓인 아름다운 화관처럼 보이는 에브라임을 애가로 시작하지만, 그 영광은 술 취한 교만으로 인해 무너져 가고 있다. 도시는 처음에는 찬란해 보이지만, 곧 떨어질 꽃처럼 이미 시들고 있다. 심판의 강한 폭풍이 다가오고 있으며, 그 교만한 면류관은 땅에 내던져져 밟히고, 사람들이 재빨리 집어 삼키는 이른 무화과처럼 사라질 것이다.
