Isaiah 22 (vv. 1-4)

Jerusalem, called the Valley of Vision, is thrown into confusion. The people crowd onto flat rooftops, looking out in alarm and restless commotion, while their rulers have fled and been captured without battle. In the midst of the city's noise, the prophet turns away in bitter grief, refusing comfort as he mourns the destruction coming upon his people.

환상의 골짜기라 불리는 예루살렘이 혼란에 빠진다. 사람들은 놀라고 불안한 마음으로 평평한 지붕 위에 가득 올라가 있고, 지도자들은 전투도 제대로 치르지 못한 채 도망하다 붙잡힌다. 도시 전체가 소란으로 가득한 가운데, 선지자는 다가올 백성의 파멸을 슬퍼하며 위로를 거부한 채 쓰라리게 눈물 흘린다.
