Description
Isaiah compares Jacob's decline to a harvest field stripped by reapers. Strongness and abundance are reduced to scarcity, like grain gathered armful by armful until little remains. Yet the judgment is not total: a few gleanings endure, like two or three olives left on the highest branches after the tree has been beaten. The image holds both loss and the faint hope of a remnant.

이사야는 야곱의 쇠퇴를 추수꾼이 베어 간 들판에 비유한다. 힘과 풍요는 한 아름씩 거두어져 거의 남지 않을 만큼 줄어든다. 그러나 심판이 완전한 끝은 아니다. 감람나무를 턴 뒤 가장 높은 가지에 두세 개의 열매가 남듯, 몇몇 이삭과 열매가 남아 있다. 이 장면은 상실과 함께 남은 자에 대한 희미한 소망을 함께 보여 준다.
