Hosea 7 (vv. 1-2)

As healing is offered to Israel, the nation’s hidden corruption is suddenly uncovered. In one sweeping vision, deceit fills the city: thieves break into homes under cover of night, bandits roam the streets, and the sins of Ephraim and Samaria rise into full view. Above the city, the unseen divine awareness is suggested by a searching light, showing that none of their evil has been forgotten and that their wrongdoing surrounds them on every side.

이스라엘을 고치려는 순간, 그 나라의 숨겨진 부패가 갑자기 드러난다. 한 장면 안에서 도시는 속임수로 가득 차 있다. 밤을 틈타 도둑들이 집에 침입하고, 거리에는 강도 떼가 돌아다니며, 에브라임과 사마리아의 죄악이 낱낱이 드러난다. 도시 위에는 보이지 않는 하나님의 아심을 상징하는 탐조등 같은 빛이 비추어, 그들의 악행이 하나도 잊히지 않았고 죄가 사방에서 그들을 에워싸고 있음을 보여 준다.
