Hosea 13 (vv. 4-6)

This scene recalls God's covenant care: he alone was Israel's Savior, he sustained them in the wilderness, and he fed them in a land of burning heat. Yet the memory turns bitter, because once the people were full and secure, they grew proud and forgot the one who had preserved them.

이 장면은 언약의 돌보심을 회상한다. 하나님만이 이스라엘의 구원자이셨고, 광야에서 그들을 붙드시며, 타는 듯한 땅에서 먹이셨다. 그러나 이 기억은 곧 쓰라림으로 바뀐다. 백성이 배부르고 평안해지자 교만해졌고, 자신들을 지켜 주신 분을 잊어버렸기 때문이다.
