Hosea 11 (vv. 2-4)

This scene contrasts divine care with Israel's rebellion. God is portrayed indirectly as a loving parent teaching a small child to walk, supporting him by the arms, healing and feeding him with affection. Yet nearby, the same grown people turn away toward idol altars, burning incense to Baal images. The emotional power of the scene lies in the painful contrast between intimate nurture and deliberate betrayal: the One who lifted them to His cheek is the One they ignored.

이 장면은 하나님의 돌보심과 이스라엘의 반역을 강하게 대비시킨다. 하나님은 직접적인 형상이 아니라, 어린아이의 두 팔을 붙들어 걸음마를 가르치고, 치유하며, 사랑으로 먹이시는 부모의 돌봄을 통해 간접적으로 표현된다. 그러나 가까운 곳에서 같은 백성은 우상 제단으로 돌아서서 바알 형상 앞에 분향하고 있다. 이 장면의 감정적 힘은 친밀한 양육과 의도적인 배신의 대비에 있다. 뺨에 아이를 들어 올려 주시던 분을 그들이 외면한 것이다.
