Description
After recalling Israel’s long history of sin and the gathering of nations for judgment, the prophecy turns to a vivid agricultural image. Ephraim is like a trained heifer that once enjoyed easy threshing, but now a yoke is placed upon its neck, while fields wait to be plowed and broken up. Yet in the same landscape there is hope: the people are urged to sow righteousness, reap steadfast love, and seek the LORD until divine righteousness falls like refreshing rain.
