Habakkuk 3 (vv. 8-11)

The poem imagines the Lord riding forth in victorious power over rivers and sea, as though the waters themselves are the battlefield. His bow is uncovered, arrows flash, the earth splits with torrents, mountains writhe, and the deep lifts up its waves. In the height of this cosmic conflict, the sun and moon stand still before the brilliance of his flying arrows and flashing spear.

이 시는 여호와께서 승리의 권능으로 강들과 바다 위를 달려 나오시는 모습을 그린다. 마치 물 자체가 전장이 된 듯, 그의 활이 드러나고 화살이 번쩍이며 땅은 강물로 갈라지고 산들은 몸부림치고 깊은 바다는 파도를 치켜든다. 이 우주적 전투의 절정에서 해와 달마저 그의 나는 화살과 번쩍이는 창의 광채 앞에 멈춰 선다.
