Habakkuk 1 (vv. 1-4)

The prophet stands in anguish as he witnesses a society collapsing under violence, injustice, and corruption. Around him, disputes flare in the streets, the vulnerable are hemmed in, and legal order seems powerless. Habakkuk lifts his voice toward heaven, lamenting that he has cried for help but has seen no rescue, while justice is twisted by the wicked.

예언자는 폭력과 불의와 부패로 무너져 가는 사회를 보며 괴로움 속에 서 있다. 그의 주변 거리에서는 다툼이 일어나고, 약한 자들은 둘러싸여 억눌리며, 법과 질서는 아무 힘도 없는 듯 보인다. 하박국은 하늘을 향해 목소리를 높이며, 자신이 도움을 구해 부르짖었으나 구원이 보이지 않고, 악인들 때문에 정의가 굽어졌다고 탄식한다.
