Genesis 50 (vv. 15-26)

After Jacob’s death, Joseph’s brothers fear revenge and bow before him, but Joseph weeps, forgives them, and declares that though they intended evil, God intended it for good to save many lives. In his old age, surrounded by later generations, Joseph speaks of God’s future deliverance and makes Israel swear to carry his bones from Egypt. He dies at one hundred and ten, embalmed and placed in a coffin, leaving behind a final testimony of faith.

야곱이 죽은 뒤, 요셉의 형제들은 보복을 두려워하며 그 앞에 엎드리지만, 요셉은 울며 그들을 용서하고, 그들이 악을 꾀했으나 하나님은 그것을 선으로 바꾸어 많은 생명을 구원하셨다고 선언한다. 노년에 이른 요셉은 후손들에게 둘러싸여 하나님의 미래 구원을 말하고, 자신의 뼈를 이집트에서 가지고 올라가라고 맹세시킨다. 그는 백십 세에 죽어 향품 처리된 뒤 관에 놓이며, 믿음의 마지막 증언을 남긴다.
