Genesis 47 (vv. 13-17)

The famine grows so severe that no food remains across Egypt and Canaan. People come to Joseph first with money to buy grain, and Joseph gathers all the silver into Pharaoh’s palace. When their money is gone, desperate crowds return pleading for bread, and Joseph exchanges food for their livestock—horses, sheep, goats, cattle, and donkeys—sustaining them through another year of crisis.

기근이 너무 심해져 이집트와 가나안 전역에 먹을 것이 남지 않게 된다. 사람들은 처음에는 돈을 가지고 와서 곡식을 사며, 요셉은 그 모든 은을 바로의 궁으로 거두어들인다. 돈이 다 떨어지자 절박한 무리가 다시 와서 양식을 구걸하고, 요셉은 말과 양과 염소와 소와 나귀 같은 가축과 맞바꾸어 식량을 주며 또 한 해를 버티게 한다.
