Description
The brothers passionately protest their innocence and even invite a search, confident that no stolen object will be found among them. One by one, each sack is lowered and opened, the search proceeding from the oldest to the youngest. At last the silver cup is discovered in Benjamin’s sack, and the brothers are shattered, tearing their clothes in grief before turning back toward the city together.
