Genesis 41 (vv. 5-7)

Pharaoh falls asleep again and sees a second dream, this time from the world of agriculture. Seven full, healthy heads of grain grow from a single stalk, rich and golden with promise. After them come seven thin, blighted heads, scorched by the fierce east wind. In a strange and unsettling image, the withered grain swallows the healthy grain, confirming that the warning is not accidental but doubled and certain.

바로는 다시 잠이 들어 이번에는 농경의 세계를 배경으로 한 두 번째 꿈을 본다. 한 줄기에서 무성하고 알찬 일곱 이삭이 자라나 풍성한 황금빛 결실을 보여 준다. 그 뒤를 이어 동풍에 말라버린 가늘고 시든 일곱 이삭이 돋아난다. 그리고 그 메마른 이삭들이 건강한 이삭들을 삼켜 버리는 기이하고 불안한 장면은, 이 경고가 우연이 아니라 반복되어 확정된 것임을 드러낸다.
