Pharaoh stands in a dreamlike vision on the bank of the Nile, the lifeline of Egypt. From the river emerge seven sleek, healthy cows that graze peacefully among the reeds. Then seven gaunt, grotesque cows rise from the same waters and stand beside them, creating a shocking contrast between abundance and ruin. The disturbing climax comes when the thin cows consume the fat ones, turning a peaceful river scene into a surreal omen of coming disaster.
