Genesis 38 (vv. 8-11)

Judah commands Onan to fulfill his duty toward Tamar by raising offspring for his dead brother. Onan selfishly refuses in practice, seeking intimacy without responsibility, and he too falls under divine judgment. Tamar is then sent back to her father’s house as a widow, left waiting under the weight of uncertainty and injustice.

유다는 오난에게 죽은 형을 위해 후사를 세우는 의무를 다말에게 행하라고 명한다. 그러나 오난은 책임 없는 관계만 원하며 실제로는 그 의무를 거부하고, 그 역시 하나님의 심판 아래 놓인다. 이후 다말은 과부의 몸으로 친정으로 돌려보내져, 불의와 불확실함 속에서 기다리게 된다.
