Genesis 32 (vv. 9-12)

Overwhelmed by fear, Jacob turns to prayer. He calls on the God of Abraham and Isaac, confessing his unworthiness and remembering how he once crossed the Jordan with only a staff. Now surrounded by family, servants, and possessions, he pleads for deliverance from Esau and clings to God's promise to prosper him and multiply his descendants.

두려움에 짓눌린 야곱은 기도로 향한다. 그는 아브라함과 이삭의 하나님을 부르며 자신의 자격 없음을 고백하고, 한때 지팡이 하나만 들고 요단을 건넜던 때를 떠올린다. 이제 가족과 종들, 수많은 소유로 둘러싸인 그는 에서에게서 구해 달라고 간구하며 자신을 번성하게 하고 후손을 많게 하시겠다는 하나님의 약속을 붙든다.
