Genesis 27 (vv. 1-4)

An elderly Isaac, nearly blind and aware of his approaching death, summons his older son Esau inside the family tent. He instructs him to take his bow and quiver into the open country, hunt wild game, and prepare the savory meal he loves so that he may bestow his final blessing. The scene establishes the solemnity of a father’s last intentions and the weight of inheritance in the household.

거의 앞을 보지 못하고 죽음이 가까움을 느끼는 늙은 이삭이 장막 안으로 맏아들 에서를 부른다. 그는 에서에게 활과 화살통을 가지고 들로 나가 사냥을 하고, 자신이 좋아하는 별미를 준비해 오라고 명한다. 그러면 죽기 전에 마지막 축복을 내리겠다고 말한다. 이 장면은 아버지의 마지막 뜻이 지닌 엄숙함과 가문 안에서 상속과 축복이 지닌 무게를 드러낸다.
