Genesis 26 (vv. 17-22)

After leaving Gerar, Isaac settles in the valley and reopens the wells of Abraham. His servants discover fresh water, but local herders quarrel over the first two wells, leading Isaac to name them Esek and Sitnah. Rather than escalating the conflict, he moves on and digs again until he finds a place where no one disputes with him, naming it Rehoboth in gratitude that the LORD has made room for them to flourish.

그랄을 떠난 이삭은 골짜기에 정착하여 아브라함의 우물들을 다시 판다. 그의 종들이 신선한 물을 발견하지만, 그랄의 목자들이 처음 두 우물을 두고 다투어 이삭은 그 이름을 각각 에섹과 싯나라고 부른다. 그는 갈등을 키우지 않고 계속 옮겨 다니며 다시 우물을 파고, 마침내 아무도 다투지 않는 곳을 얻자 여호와께서 넓은 곳을 주셨다며 그 이름을 르호봇이라 한다.
