Genesis 24 (vv. 1-9)

An aged Abraham, visibly blessed yet burdened with the future of his household, calls his senior servant into his tent and makes him swear a sacred oath. Abraham insists that Isaac must not marry among the Canaanites nor return to Mesopotamia, but that a wife must be sought from Abraham’s own relatives.
