Genesis 19 (vv. 17-23)

Once outside the city, the family is commanded to flee for their lives without looking back. Lot pleads not to be sent to the mountains but to a small nearby town, and his request is granted. As the sun rises over the plain, Lot runs toward Zoar, the little refuge spared for his sake. The scene captures the fragile interval between warning and judgment, when mercy still opens a narrow path of escape.

성 밖으로 나온 뒤 그 가족은 뒤를 돌아보지 말고 목숨을 위해 도망하라는 명령을 받는다. 롯은 산으로 가기 어렵다며 가까운 작은 성읍으로 피하게 해 달라고 간청하고, 그 요청은 허락된다. 해가 평원 위로 떠오를 때 롯은 자신을 위해 보존된 작은 피난처 소알을 향해 달려간다. 이 장면은 경고와 심판 사이의 위태로운 순간, 자비가 아직 좁은 탈출의 길을 열어 두고 있는 때를 담아낸다.
