Genesis 17 (vv. 1-3)

At ninety-nine years old, Abram encounters the LORD in a moment of overwhelming holiness. In the open land near his encampment, the divine presence is revealed not as a visible face, but as radiant heavenly light breaking into the earthly scene. Abram responds by falling facedown in reverence as God calls him to walk faithfully and blamelessly before Him and announces the covenant that will multiply his descendants.

아흔아홉 살의 아브람은 압도적인 거룩함의 순간에 여호와를 만난다. 장막이 있는 들판 가까이에서 하나님의 임재는 보이는 얼굴이 아니라 땅의 장면을 가르며 비추는 찬란한 하늘의 빛으로 드러난다. 아브람은 경외심으로 얼굴을 땅에 대고 엎드리고, 하나님은 그에게 자신 앞에서 신실하고 흠 없이 행하라고 부르시며 그의 후손을 크게 번성하게 할 언약을 선포하신다.
