Genesis 15 (vv. 17-21)

After full darkness falls, the covenant is confirmed by a supernatural sign: a smoking firepot and a blazing torch pass between the prepared pieces. God’s presence is revealed not in visible human form but in fire and smoke, marking the solemn making of the covenant. The LORD declares that the land, stretching from the Wadi of Egypt to the Euphrates, will belong to Abram’s descendants.

완전한 어둠이 내린 뒤, 초자연적인 표징으로 언약이 확증된다. 연기 나는 화로와 타오르는 횃불이 준비된 제물 사이로 지나가며, 하나님의 임재는 사람의 형상이 아니라 불과 연기로 나타난다. 여호와께서는 애굽 강에서부터 큰 강 유브라데까지 이르는 땅을 아브람의 자손에게 주시겠다고 선언하신다.
