Genesis 15 (vv. 7-11)

After God reminds Abram that He brought him from Ur to give him this land, Abram asks for assurance. In obedience, Abram gathers the heifer, goat, ram, dove, and pigeon, arranging the covenant offering in a solemn outdoor setting. As birds of prey descend, Abram drives them away, guarding the sacred space as he waits for God’s response.

하나님께서 자신이 아브람을 우르에서 이끌어 내어 이 땅을 주신 분임을 상기시키신 뒤, 아브람은 그 약속의 확증을 구한다. 순종하여 아브람은 암소와 염소와 숫양, 산비둘기와 집비둘기 새끼를 가져와 엄숙한 들판에 언약 제물을 준비한다. 그때 맹금들이 내려오자 아브람은 그것들을 쫓아내며, 하나님의 응답을 기다리는 거룩한 자리를 지킨다.
