Galatians 4 (vv. 21-27)

Paul’s allegory is visualized through a powerful contrast between Hagar and Sarah. One side evokes Mount Sinai, slavery, and the present Jerusalem; the other reveals the Jerusalem above, freedom, and the joy of divine promise. The scene should not merely portray two women, but two spiritual realities: earthly bondage below and heavenly liberty above, with the barren woman’s future joy hinted through radiant expectation.

바울의 비유는 하갈과 사라의 강렬한 대비를 통해 시각화된다. 한쪽은 시내산과 종살이, 현재의 예루살렘을 떠올리게 하고, 다른 한쪽은 위에 있는 예루살렘과 자유, 그리고 하나님의 약속의 기쁨을 드러낸다. 이 장면은 단지 두 여인을 묘사하는 데 그치지 않고 두 영적 현실을 보여 주어야 한다. 아래의 땅의 속박과 위의 하늘의 자유, 그리고 잉태하지 못한 여인의 장래 기쁨이 빛나는 소망으로 암시되어야 한다.
