Description
After Shekaniah urges action, Ezra rises from mourning to leadership. He places the leading priests, Levites, and all Israel under oath to carry out the covenant to address the sin, and they solemnly swear. Then Ezra withdraws to the chamber of Jehohanan son of Eliashib, where he continues fasting, refusing food and water as he mourns over the people's unfaithfulness.
