Ezekiel 8 (vv. 1-4)

Ezekiel is sitting in his house among the elders of Judah when the hand of the Sovereign LORD comes upon him. He sees a humanlike figure whose lower body blazes like fire and whose upper body shines like glowing metal. Without showing the divine face, the vision conveys overwhelming holiness as a hand-like form reaches out, seizes Ezekiel by the hair, and the Spirit lifts him between earth and heaven. In the vision he is transported to Jerusalem, to the north gate of the inner court, where the glory of the God of Israel appears and the idol that provokes jealousy stands nearby.
