Because of Edom’s ancient hatred and its betrayal of Israel in the day of calamity, the prophecy turns darker. Mount Seir is imagined as a land overtaken by the consequences of its own violence: silent roads, abandoned passes, and mountains filled with the memory of the slain. Rather than showing graphic violence, the image emphasizes emptiness, sword-marked terrain, and the haunting sense that bloodshed now pursues the very people who embraced it.
