Nebuchadnezzar and the ruthless army of Babylon are presented as the instrument of judgment against Egypt. The Nile is imagined drying, idols in Memphis shattered, and major cities such as Zoan, Thebes, Pelusium, Heliopolis, Bubastis, and Tahpanhes overshadowed by fire, fear, and captivity. Rather than focusing on gore, the scene shows the collapse of Egyptian power, religion, and security under an unstoppable foreign invasion permitted by the Lord.
