Ezekiel 29 (vv. 4-6)

Pharaoh is imagined as a great river monster lying among the streams of the Nile, boasting that the river belongs to him. The Lord’s judgment comes like invisible power: hooks seize the monster’s jaws, and fish cling to its scales as it is drawn out from the water. The image is symbolic and terrifying, showing the humiliation of a ruler who claimed divine ownership over creation but is cast down into helplessness.

바로는 나일의 여러 물줄기 사이에 누워 있으면서 그 강이 자기 것이라고 자랑하는 거대한 강의 괴물로 묘사된다. 주님의 심판은 보이지 않는 힘처럼 임하여, 갈고리가 그 괴물의 턱을 꿰고 물고기들이 비늘에 달라붙은 채 물에서 끌려 나온다. 이 장면은 상징적이면서도 두려움을 불러일으키며, 창조 세계를 자기 소유라고 주장한 통치자가 수치 속에 무력하게 끌려 내려오는 모습을 보여 준다.
