Ezekiel 24 (vv. 19-27)

When the people ask Ezekiel why he acts this way, he explains that his behavior is a sign of what will happen when God desecrates the sanctuary, the pride and delight of Israel, and when their sons and daughters fall. They will be too stunned for normal mourning, wasting away in grief and guilt. The scene culminates in prophetic expectation: a fugitive will one day arrive with news of Jerusalem’s fall, and then Ezekiel’s silence will be broken, confirming that the LORD has spoken.
