Ezekiel 20 (vv. 1-4)

In the seventh year, elders of Israel come and sit before Ezekiel to inquire of the LORD. Instead of receiving a favorable answer, Ezekiel is given a severe prophetic word: God refuses their inquiry and commands the prophet to confront them with the detestable practices of their ancestors. The scene is one of tense stillness, with human expectation meeting divine refusal.
