Ezekiel 19 (vv. 5-9)

After losing the first cub, the lioness raises another, and he too grows into a powerful lion whose roaring terrifies the land and whose strength devastates strongholds. But surrounding nations unite against him, cast a net over him, trap him, and drag him in a cage to Babylon. His roar, once heard in Israel’s mountains, is finally silenced in prison.

첫 번째 새끼를 잃은 뒤 암사자는 또 다른 새끼를 키우고, 그 역시 땅을 떨게 하는 포효와 요새를 무너뜨리는 힘을 지닌 강한 사자로 자라난다. 그러나 사방의 민족들이 함께 그를 치며 그물로 덮고 함정에 빠뜨린 뒤, 우리에 넣어 바벨론으로 끌고 간다. 한때 이스라엘 산지에 울려 퍼지던 그의 포효는 마침내 감옥에서 잠잠해진다.
