Ezekiel 17 (vv. 22-24)

In a final reversal, the Lord himself takes a tender sprig from the cedar’s top and plants it on the high mountain of Israel. It grows into a splendid cedar, bearing fruit and providing shelter for birds of every kind. The image proclaims God’s sovereign power to humble the proud, exalt the lowly, and bring life where there was dryness and loss.

마지막 반전에서 주님은 친히 백향목 꼭대기에서 연한 새순을 꺾어 이스라엘의 높은 산에 심으신다. 그것은 자라나 영화로운 백향목이 되고, 열매를 맺으며 온갖 새들이 그 가지 그늘 아래 깃든다. 이 장면은 교만한 것을 낮추고 낮은 것을 높이며, 메마름과 상실 가운데서도 생명을 일으키시는 하나님의 주권을 선포한다.
