Ezekiel 13 (vv. 10-16)

The false prophets assure the people that all is well, symbolized by a flimsy wall hastily built and then covered with smooth whitewash to hide its weakness. At first glance the wall appears solid and clean, but it is only a deceptive surface over poor construction. Dark storm clouds gather as torrents of rain, violent wind, and hail begin to descend in judgment. The image embodies the chapter's central accusation: false prophecy offers a polished illusion of peace while ignoring the danger beneath. As the storm strikes, the wall begins to crack and collapse, exposing its bare foundation and the emptiness of those who trusted in appearances.
