Exodus 4 (vv. 10-17)

Moses confesses his weakness, saying that he is slow of speech and tongue, and begs to be excused from the mission. The LORD answers with sovereign authority over human ability and promises to help him speak, yet Moses still asks that someone else be sent. Then divine anger burns, though not in visible human form, and God appoints Aaron as Moses' spokesman while commanding Moses to carry the staff for the signs. The scene is one of inner struggle, divine patience, and solemn commissioning.
