Exodus 30 (vv. 1-6)

A sacred altar of acacia wood is crafted specifically for burning incense. It is small, square, and overlaid with pure gold, with horns on its corners, a gold molding around it, and gold rings for carrying poles. The altar is placed directly before the inner curtain of the tabernacle, just outside the Most Holy Place where the ark of the covenant rests, marking the place where the LORD promises to meet with His people.

향을 피우기 위해 특별히 아카시아 나무로 만든 거룩한 제단이 제작된다. 이 제단은 작고 네모나며, 순금으로 입혀지고 네 귀퉁이에 뿔이 있으며, 둘레에는 금 테두리가 있고 운반용 채를 끼울 금고리가 달려 있다. 이 향단은 성막의 안쪽 휘장 바로 앞, 언약궤가 놓인 지성소 바깥에 놓이며, 여호와께서 자기 백성과 만나시겠다고 약속하신 장소를 나타낸다.
