Exodus 3 (vv. 1)

Moses, now a shepherd in Midian, leads the flock of his father-in-law Jethro deep into the wilderness until he reaches Horeb, the mountain of God. The scene establishes his humble life far from Egypt: a solitary figure guiding sheep across dry, rocky ground beneath the imposing mountain landscape where divine revelation is about to break into ordinary labor.
