Exodus 24 (vv. 9-11)

Moses, Aaron, Nadab, Abihu, and the seventy elders ascend and behold the God of Israel—not as a direct human face, but through a manifestation of overwhelming holiness. Beneath Him is something like a pavement of lapis lazuli, brilliant blue like the sky itself. Though they stand in terrifying proximity to the divine, God does not strike them down; instead, they eat and drink in His presence, a sign of covenant fellowship.

모세와 아론, 나답과 아비후, 그리고 칠십 장로가 올라가 이스라엘의 하나님을 뵙는다. 그러나 이는 인간의 얼굴을 직접 보는 모습이 아니라 압도적인 거룩함의 현현으로 나타난다. 그 아래에는 하늘처럼 푸르고 빛나는 청금석 같은 바닥이 펼쳐져 있다. 그들은 두려운 하나님의 임재 가까이에 서 있지만 죽임을 당하지 않고, 오히려 그분 앞에서 먹고 마시며 언약의 교제를 누린다.
