Exodus 22 (vv. 10-15)

A caretaker stands before the owner of an entrusted animal and swears an oath before the LORD that he did not steal or misuse what was placed in his care. Beside them lie the torn remains of an animal attacked by a wild beast, offered as evidence, while another borrowed beast is shown injured in a separate part of the scene to illustrate the law’s distinctions. The moment is quiet and weighty: human words are spoken under divine witness, and justice depends on truth, evidence, and responsibility. God’s presence is suggested not by form, but by a shaft of holy light descending over the oath.

맡겨진 짐승을 돌보던 사람이 주인 앞에 서서, 자신이 맡은 것을 훔치거나 함부로 하지 않았음을 여호와 앞에서 맹세한다. 그들 곁에는 들짐승에게 찢긴 동물의 남은 흔적이 증거로 놓여 있고, 장면의 다른 한쪽에는 빌린 짐승이 다친 모습이 암시되어 있어 율법의 세밀한 구분을 보여 준다. 이 순간은 조용하지만 무겁다. 사람의 말은 하나님의 증인 되심 아래서 선포되며, 정의는 진실과 증거와 책임 위에 세워진다. 하나님의 임재는 형상이 아니라 맹세 위로 비추는 거룩한 빛줄기로 표현된다.
