Exodus 21 (vv. 26-27)

A servant who has suffered permanent injury stands before witnesses as the law requires freedom as compensation. The master, confronted by the consequence of his violence, must release the servant, and the moment becomes one of reversal: where power once dominated, the law now restores liberty. The image should focus on the dignity of the freed person and the moral seriousness of the judgment.

영구적인 상해를 입은 종이 증인들 앞에 서 있고, 율법은 그 상처에 대한 보상으로 자유를 요구한다. 폭력의 결과와 마주한 주인은 그 종을 놓아주어야 하며, 이 순간은 권력 관계가 뒤집히는 장면이 된다. 한때 지배하던 힘 대신 율법이 자유를 회복시키는 것이다. 이 장면은 자유를 얻는 사람의 존엄성과 그 판결의 도덕적 엄중함에 초점을 맞추어야 한다.
