Description
In the middle of the night, King Xerxes lies awake in his royal chamber, unable to sleep. He commands attendants to bring the book of the chronicles, and by lamplight they read aloud the record of Mordecai’s earlier loyalty in exposing the assassination plot of Bigthana and Teresh. As the king listens, he realizes with surprise that no honor or recognition was ever given to Mordecai.
