Esther 5 (vv. 1-2)

On the third day, Esther dresses in royal robes and stands in the inner court facing the king’s hall, risking her life by appearing uninvited. The king, seated on his royal throne and facing the entrance, sees her and is pleased. In a moment charged with suspense and relief, he extends the golden scepter toward her, and Esther steps forward to touch its tip, receiving favor instead of judgment.

셋째 날, 에스더는 왕후의 예복을 입고 왕의 부름 없이 왕궁 안뜰에 서서 목숨을 건 채 왕의 전을 바라본다. 왕은 입구를 마주한 왕좌에 앉아 있다가 그녀를 보고 기뻐한다. 긴장과 안도가 교차하는 순간, 왕은 손에 든 금 홀을 그녀에게 내밀고, 에스더는 앞으로 나아가 그 끝을 만지며 심판 대신 은총을 받는다.
