Esther 4 (vv. 15-17)

Esther reaches her decisive moment and sends word that all the Jews in Susa must fast for her for three days and nights. She and her attendants will do the same, and afterward she will go to the king despite the law. Her final words, accepting the possibility of death, transform fear into courageous resolve, while Mordecai departs to carry out her command.

에스더는 마침내 결단의 순간에 이르러, 수산에 있는 모든 유다인에게 자신을 위해 삼 일 밤낮 금식하라고 전한다. 그녀와 시녀들도 함께 금식한 뒤, 법을 어기더라도 왕께 나아가겠다고 선언한다. 죽을 수도 있음을 받아들이는 그녀의 마지막 말은 두려움을 담대한 결의로 바꾸며, 모르드개는 그 명령을 실행하러 떠난다.
