Description
When the king's edict is proclaimed, many young women are gathered into the royal harem at Susa, and Esther is among them. Hegai, the eunuch in charge, quickly notices her grace and grants her special care, attendants, and the best place in the harem. Yet beneath the royal privilege lies secrecy and tension, for Esther conceals her Jewish identity as Mordecai watches anxiously from outside the courtyard each day.
